IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christopher Gene
Massey
July 14, 1962 – August 23, 2025
Christopher Gene Massey, 63, of Dish, Texas, passed away on August 23, 2025, at his home. He was born in Navasota, Texas on July 14, 1962, to Milton Wayne and Glenda Lou (Strickland) Massey.
Chris worked for many years at the Denton State School, where he lovingly cared for the clients who lived there. Through his work, he made lifelong friends and was known for his compassion, dedication, and the joy he brought to those around him. He had an outgoing personality and a smile for everyone he met.
Chris was a lifelong sports fan. He loved football, especially cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Aggies, and he was a devoted Texas Rangers fan.
The greatest joy of Chris's life was spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. He cherished every moment with Kristin, Haylee, and Haylen, and they were the light of his life. His love for family was evident to everyone who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved most.
One of Chris's favorite songs was "Go Rest High on That Mountain." Its words reflect his life and his spirit — a life filled with love, hard work, laughter, and devotion to his family. Just as the song says, Chris has gone to rest high on the mountain, and while he will be deeply missed here, his family and friends take comfort in knowing he is at peace and watching over those he loved most.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Morris and her husband, Christopher of Dish, Texas; sister, Amy Campise & her husband, Joe of Bryan, Texas; brothers, Mitchell Massey and his wife, Kerry of Decatur, and Mathew Longoria and his wife, Wendy of Justin, Texas. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Haylee Morris and Haylen Morris.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 5–7 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Decatur, Texas.
