Clarence W. "Bill" Stoneburner was born November 9, 1955 in Texas City, Texas to Clarence and Louise Stoneburner. He passed peacefully at home on August 15, 2015.
Bill spent his early life in Texas City, moving to Denton in the early 60's. Bill attended Denton schools, graduating from Denton High School in 1974. Bill attended NTSU before attending barber school.
Bill was a barber/stylist in Denton for nearly forty years. He and his wife, Rhonda have owned and operated Billy Shears Salon in Denton since 1988.
Bill was known for his knowledge of many things and could talk sports, politics and just about any topic with his many friends and clients. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Cowboys, Mavericks and Rangers. His love for auto racing began in high school and carried on throughout his life. Bill attended every race held at Texas Motor Speedway. Using his "vacation" time camping at the speedway for NASCAR through wind, mud, rain, heat, tornado threats and beautiful sunshine was his joy.
Bill and his wife, Rhonda were married in Las Vegas, NV on their way to the Super Bowl in 1993. The birth of their son, Cory followed later that year.
Bill was an actively involved parent to Cory, coaching soccer and baseball teams. He earned his nickname of "Overkill Bill" with his involvement with the Denton High School Marching, Concert and Jazz Bands, never turning down a project for the bands.
Bill was diagnosed with intrahepatic bile duct carcinoma in late 2014.
Preceded in death by his parents and his sister Martha, he leaves behind his wife, Rhonda and son, Cory. Bill is survived by extended family members, his brothers-in-law Ron Martin, Rick McDonald and his wife Kim, Randy McDonald and wife Lauri, and sister-in-law Roxanne Olson and husband Bruce, nephews, Trey and Mike Martin, Nick Olson, Andrew Reidy and niece, Casey Olson.
Bill will be truly missed by his many friends and clients (who are like family).
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Spivey, Dr. Brian Gogel and the nurses and staff at North Texas Oncology for taking such great care during this treatment, and the professionals at Solaris Hospice for the care he received during his final days.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Texas Alliance Raceway Ministries or DHS Jazz Program (Checks to DHS Band c/o Jesse Woolery).
