Obituary

Cleada Watts Smallwood passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 in Lake Dallas, Texas. She was born September 27, 1928 in Tahoka, Texas to Lige and Ouida Shewmake.

She married Charles Watts in 1946 and together they moved their family to Ballinger, Texas in 1961. She was the proud mother of five boys and loved being a homemaker and mother to her children when they were young. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing for family members and the public, including making outfits for cheerleaders. She was later employed by Safeway grocery stores, eventually being promoted to store manager. After retirement, she moved to Lake Dallas, Texas.

She was such a character, with a twinkle in her eye and so many stories to tell, some of them even true. She will be missed deeply by family and by the friends who brought her so much joy during the last years of her life. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the caregivers of Hospice Plus for their loving-kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy West, two sons, Jackie Joe Watts and Terry Lee Watts and great-grandson Jacob Coates.

She is survived by sons Gerald Watts of Hempstead, Texas, Robert Watts and wife Annette of San Angelo, Texas, Alan Watts and wife Debbie of Ballinger, Texas, brother Hollis Shewmake, sister Carolyn Shields, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 23 at Swisher Cemetery in Lake Dallas, Texas.
