Clifton Burke Laird, 78, returned to his heavenly home on December 30, 2017 after a LONG battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Clifton was born to the late EC and Lizzie Maude, in Pittsburg, Texas on November 21, 1939. Clifton graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1958. He attended Texas A& M for a year.
Clifton was blessed with a loving family. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Harris, on April 16, 1960 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Clifton helped raise his daughter who was born deaf with patience, discipline and humility.
Clifton was an educator at heart. He was kind and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He is dearly missed by his loved ones who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Clifton is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; his daughter, Julie and husband Oscar Matthews; his granddaughter Joshlyn who was his pride and joy; brothers, Charles Laird and wife Chris of Irving, David Inman and wife Jerri Ann of Midland; Sister-In-Law, Doris Inman of Pilot Point, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of loving family and friends.
He preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother Reta Inman Laird, his brother Jimmy Inman, his best friends Doyle Cumby, Don Scott and a couple of other close friends.
