Obituary

Mrs. Daisy Ann Elkins (née Wade) died peacefully in her home at the Vintage Retirement Center on August 4, 2015, in Denton, Texas just shy of her 90th birthday.

Daisy is survived by her husband, Maurice Elkins, daughters Marsha "Sam" Elkins of Austin, and Cecilia Elkins of Denton, son-in-law Dan Griffiths, grandson Jesse Griffiths, grand-daughter-in-law Tamara Mayfield and great granddaughter Paloma Griffiths all of Austin Texas, brother Christopher Wade (Rosalie Wade and adored extended family) of Flippin, Arkansas, and treasured niece Eloise Love of Mount Pleasant, Arkansas, and grandsons Richard Massey and Ben Thompson.

Daisy was preceded in death by her daughter Cathy Anne Thompson and sister Jackie Mutz.

Daisy was born on August 15, 1925 in Gainesville, Texas to Milton V. Wade and Eloise Oden Wade. She graduated from High School in Gainesville in 1943. Daisy worked for many years as an administrative assistant and accounting specialist for various insurance agencies and businesses including Ohio Rubber, Turbo and Kolmar in Denton Texas.

Daisy was a generous, witty, and much loved individual who enjoyed life and was passionate about her family and friends. She loved nature and gardening and was always ready to vacation in her beloved areas of northern New Mexico where she had lived for many happy years. Daisy was an active and dedicated volunteer at the Denton State School where her daughter "Cece" has been a long time resident. At one time Daisy served as president of the parent's association for the state school as well serving on various committees and boards at the school. Daisy was a member of the St Mark's Catholic Church of Denton.
A date for a memorial celebration of Daisy's life will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers Daisy asked that donations be made in her memory to the Volunteer Services Council at the Denton State Supported Living Center, P.O. Box 368, Denton, Texas 76202. Donations may also be made on-line at www.VSCdenton.org.
