Dale Edward Wentroble, born November 5, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2026, in Corinth, Texas.
Dale loved life and cherished his wife Barbara of 61 years, his children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Whether it was a cruise to Alaska, Christmas dinner, old steam engine trains, cheering for Texas Tech and the Pittsburgh Steelers, or enjoying his favorite coffee and vanilla ice cream—Dale found joy in everyday moments and shared that joy freely.
Dale loved to laugh, and his daily goal was to bring joy to everyone around him. Through his famous “Dale-isms,” Far Side cartoons, jokes about bran muffins, or stepping onto an elevator saying, “I guess you’re wondering why I called this meeting,” Dale made sure your day was brighter. His signature question, “Are we having fun yet?” captured his heart perfectly.
He loved movies and music and was known to “rock the house” with favorites like From Now On and Rewrite the Stars from The Greatest Showman, Try a Little Kindness by Glen Campbell, Roy Orbison classics (You Got It, Only the Lonely, Crying), Chariots of Fire by Vangelis, (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher by Jackie Wilson, and Africa by Toto.
As a young man, Dale excelled in electronics, even building his own radio and television. That early passion led him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Geneva College in Pennsylvania. He went on to a successful career in management and engineering, earning two patents and being honored twice as Man of the Year. Dale saw the marketplace as ministry—encouraging coworkers, praying with employees, and allowing God to use him wherever he worked.
Dale also served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force, serving as a Missile Commander—reflecting his deep love for America.
Known affectionately as Pastor Dale or Papa Dale, he pastored at Living Word Church in Tyler, Texas; served as Vice President of International Breakthrough Ministries in Argyle, Texas; and was an Elder at Global Spheres Center in Corinth, Texas.
Dale loved the Lord and worshiped daily, often singing hymns like In the Garden and Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus. The Word of God anchored his life, and he lived by 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God concerning you.” He frequently encouraged others with his life declaration: Right place. Right time. Right people. Wherever he went—church, stores, hospitals, or rehabilitation centers—Dale made sure people left encouraged.
He loved reading Frank Peretti and often shared his favorite quote from Mary Stewart Relfe, The Cure for All Ills:
“When the books are opened wide… history was not made in halls of congress or offices of armies or navies, but in prayer closets of nameless intercessors… for the fate of this world has always been, and is today, in the hands of praying saints.”
Dale is survived by his wife, Barbara Brasell Wentroble; children Brian (Michelle) Wentroble, Lori (Brian) Kooiman, and Mark (Brittanne) Wentroble; grandchildren Lindsey and Annaliese Wentroble; Anna, Gabriella, and Benjamin Kooiman; Kailee, Sylvia, and Ryland Wentroble; sister Janice (Frank) McAleese; nephew Scott (Martha) McAleese; along with many family members, friends, spiritual children, and grandchildren around the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edith Wentroble, and his granddaughter, Rayna Wentroble.
Dale Edward Wentroble lived a life marked by joy, faith, laughter, and love—leaving every person he met more encouraged than when he found them. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the prayers he prayed, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
He would want everyone to love the Lord—and to always remember: you are loved!
