June 27, 1947 – October 15, 2024
Daniel Douglas Lipperman went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, after a lengthy illness with CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy). Born on June 27, 1947, Dan graduated from St. John Central in Bellaire, Ohio, where he met his wife Liz, and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he played football for the Commodores.
Following his graduation with a Civil Engineering degree, he joined the Air Force and did a tour in Vietnam where he survived a direct surface to air missile attack on his airplane, earning him the Distinguished Flying Cross. After his stint in the military, he worked at Southwest Airlines until he retired as a Captain in 2007. After that, he served as the Aeromedical Liaison for SWAPA (Southwest Airlines Pilots Association) until 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Martin Lipperman, his sister Ellen Stonacher, and his two brothers, Jack and Donald Lipperman.
He leaves behind two other brothers, Marty and Colie Lipperman (California), his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Roth Lipperman (Liz), daughter Nicole Lipperman Bushland (spouse Dennis Bushland), and his son Brody Daniel Lipperman (spouse Abby Lipperman) as well as four beautiful grandchildren, Grayson Michael Bushland, Caden Daniel Bushland, Eleanor Kathleen Lipperman, and Alice Elizabeth Lipperman.
There will be a celebration of life in early December in Columbus, Ohio, with his Roth and Lipperman families.
