Darva Lynn Houston, age 51, of Denton, Texas, passed away on June 6th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on October 9, 1973, in Denton, Texas, to Jimmy and Valarie Houston. Darva grew up in Southeast Denton and was known for her incredible sense of humor, generous spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family.

A proud graduate of Denton High School, Class of '92, Darva spent many years managing and operating the Dairy Queen on Loop 288. During that time, she created opportunities for so many people, building meaningful relationships with her coworkers and turning her workplace into a second home. She made space for family to work alongside her, and together they created core memories that will never be forgotten.

Darva was deeply passionate about spending time with her loved ones, watching her favorite shows, shopping, and making sure everyone around her was cared for. She had a heart big enough for everyone — and for many, she was the village. Whether by giving guidance, sharing laughter, or simply being there in a time of need, Darva was the rock for so many in her community.

She is survived by her two children, Jaden Lynn Houston (24) and Jai Lynn Ester (9); her partner, Joseph Ester; her three younger siblings, Andrea (Andi) Houston-Jones, Chris Houston, and Randi Trantham; her mother, Valarie Houston; her granddaughter, Kennedy Jade Houston (7); and thirteen beloved nieces and nephews, she was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Houston.

A celebration of Darva's life will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 AM at DeBerry Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, prior to the service. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their memories.

Darva will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love, laughter, and light she brought into the world.
