David Michael Case
May 20, 1958 – June 26, 2025
David Michael Case, 67, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. A proud veteran, devoted father, and beloved grandfather, David lived a life marked by service, strength, and unwavering love for his family.
Born on May 20, 1958, in Danville, Illinois, David was the son of the late Norma Jane Kraft and William Robert Case. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Case.
David is survived by his son, Jack Case, and daughter-in-law, Kayla, of Fairfield, California, and his daughter, Katy Harrelson, and son-in-law, Trevor, of Corinth, Texas. He was the proud grandfather of four cherished grandchildren: Arya Case, Nora Case, Kash Case, and Baker Harrelson. He is also survived by his siblings: Larry, Jim and his wife, Holly, sister Judy and her husband CMSgt William Nivison, Amy and Stephanie Lowry, Fallon Lewis, and Dylan Giguere.
After graduating from high school in Illinois, David answered the call to serve and enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following two years of active duty, he continued his commitment to the Air Force Reserves while simultaneously serving as a deputy sheriff in Kentucky. His dedication brought him back to active service, where he went on to serve with distinction in global assignments including Germany, Turkey, South Korea, and at Travis Air Force Base in California.
One of the most impactful chapters of David's military career took place at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There, he played a leading role as the managing noncommissioned officer overseeing the construction of KUMSEC, an underground nuclear storage facility. During this time, he met fellow Airman Amy Lowry, whom he later married. Together, they raised two children, Jack and Katy, and built a life grounded in love, discipline, and deep-rooted values.
David's military service was distinguished by exemplary leadership, including an uncommon early promotion to Senior Noncommissioned Officer below the zone. His time stationed in Germany prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall also designates him as a World War II-era veteran, a testament to his historical connection and global contribution.
Among his many honors, David received the following awards and decorations:
· Meritorious Service Medal
· Air Force Commendation Medal (with one device)
Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (with four devices)
· Air Force Good Conduct Medal (with four devices)
· Army of Occupation Medal

· Air Force Overseas Long Tour Medal
· Air Force Longevity Service Award (with three devices)
· Professional Military Education Ribbon (with one device)

David retired from the Air Force in 1994 and settled in Durant, Oklahoma, where he and Amy raised their children. He was a hands-on father who coached Little League sports activities, attended every school function, and cheered proudly from the sidelines of life's many milestones.
In retirement, David continued to live with purpose. He spent time in Tulsa and later moved to Denton, Texas, in March 2024 to be closer to his family. His happiest days were those spent with his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy and light.
He was a proud member of several professional organizations, including the Noncommissioned Officers Association, the Air Force Sergeants Association, and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, where he was an active member from 1983 to 1994.
David will be laid to rest with full military honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
