David Terrell "Terry" Long, Jr., 47, of Denton, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in Denton, Texas with his wife Claudina by his side at their local hospital.
He was born in High Point, North Carolina to David and Mary Long on June 14, 1974.
He attended schools in High Point, North Carolina and after graduating High Point Central high school, he went on to attend Barber Scotia College in Concord, North Carolina. David enjoyed cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels, alone, while the rest of the family cheered on Duke. The family watch parties and team rivalry were always loving and a good time.
He's had various careers in the Restaurant Industry, Customer Service, Casino Table Games, etc.
He was an accomplished artist, published book author, photographer, tech guru, and a contest winning poet.
He once gave the opening prayer dinner for the Governor of North Carolina.
He designed his senior class graduation t-shirt and hand designed the Cities In Schools t-shirts.
He had his own radio show in North Carolina called 360 Radio. He was DJ Dirt Henning who produced musical tracks and beats to several artists including Kush Kennedy and Kenyon Long.
David met Claudina in 2013 in Shreveport, Louisiana at a Chili cookoff. He had pulled pork chili, she had cupcakes and together they turned their love for cooking into a catering business, Long Life Catering. David was best known for his Strawberry Chipotle BBQ Sauce.
They were married on October 16, 2016 at the Eiffel Society in New Orleans, Louisiana. They moved to Denton, Texas in 2019 when David was offered a table games dealer position at Winstar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
He was last employed with Enterprise Holdings where he served as a customer service representative.
David is survived by his wife Claudina Long. His parents, Pastor Mary Long and Deacon David Long Sr. His Brother Demetris Kenyon Long. His Sister Crystal Stricklin and Sister in law Victoria Long. His nephews Emajee and Desmond Jr. His nieces Christania, Ray'niah, and Morgan. His family in love Wilkie Byer, Marnita Henderson, Delavan Henderson Byer and Leonard Henderson. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, family members and a host of friends near and far.
Services will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2021, at 12pm at Temple Memorial Baptist Church located at 1458 Cedrow Drive, High Point, North Carolina 27260. Temple Baptist Church contact number: 336-883-7339
