David Leon Payne of Lewisburg, Tennessee passed away January 26, 2023. He was born on June10, 1947. He was born to Roy and Fay (Arnold) Payne in Denton, Texas. He is survived by his mother Fay Payne and brother Rick Payne (Dianna) of Sanger, Texas, his children David Payne Jr. (Debra) of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Cherie Anderson (John) Krugerville, Texas, Elizabeth McKinney (Ryder) and Amber Payne of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daddy Roy Payne and his brother Roy Payne Jr.

All his life he loved playing the (bass) guitar and singing. He played in several bands in Denton, Texas and Tennessee. While pursuing his music career in Tennessee, he had the honor to open for Lee Greenwood and accompanied Ronnie Millsap. He also acted in a music video, "An Empty Glass", performed by Shelby Lee Lowe. He co-wrote the song, "Cuss The Jukebox", performed by Shelby too.

There will be a memorial service held at 2:00 PM, February 11, 2023 in Denton, Texas at the Optimist Gym at 3100 North Elm Street, Denton, TX 76207.
