Obituary

David Alan Pryor of Denton, passed away at his home on February 21, 2015, ending his battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme. David was born on January 25, 1958 in Denton, Texas to George and Oleta (Praytor) Pryor. He married Dawn Cheek in Denton, Texas on May 1, 1983.

David attended Denton schools, graduating from Denton High School in 1976. He earned his Associate of Science from Cook County College, attended University of North Texas and Francis Marion University in South Carolina, and earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Trinity University. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, while attending First United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church in Denton, Texas. David was a Director of Engineering for Victor Technologies.

During the 30 plus years in his industry, David achieved 11 patents as a Mechanical Engineer. He was a member of numerous associations: Compressed Gas Association, America Welding Society, Chairman for the US TAG (Technical Advisory Group) for ISO (International Standards Organization) relating to Gas welding, Cutting and Allied processes, a U.S. delegate to the ISO committee for Gas Welding, Cutting and Allied Processes, ISO observer for European Standards Organization, a Member of the National Association of Fire Investigators.

He was an inspiration to those of us who knew him in countless ways. He was one of the smartest men we knew, always dependable, and had a dry sense of humor like none other. We coin words and phrases that came from the beautiful mind of David Pryor. He adored his wife, his kids, his family, and his Spare Golf League. He loved golfing, camping, kayaking, and spent every second he could out by the lake enjoying all the people who meant so much to him.

David is survived by his wife, Dawn Cheek Pryor of Denton, his daughter and son-in-law, Callie and Nick Mazzagatti of Edmond, OK., his son, Greyson Pryor of Denton, his mother, Oleta Pryor of Denton, his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Lindy Wilson, mother-in-law and step father-in-law, Pat Cheek and Jim Clark, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diana and Paul Dunklau, brother-in-law, Billy Cheek, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joel and Heather Cheek, all of Denton. He leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, George Pryor, father-in-law, Bill Cheek, Sr., an infant son, Forrest David Pryor, and his Praytor and Pryor grandparents.

A memorial service will be held on February 28, 2015 at 4:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Denton, Texas.
