Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of David Wayne Sproat, a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. David, born on December 13, 1958, in Lansing, MI, the first son of Dolores and Orval Sproat, embarked on his eternal journey on May 3, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. After high school, he started his new chapter in Texas, where he planted roots and flourished for the rest of his days.

In his younger years, David showcased his strength and agility as a Golden Gloves Boxer, a passion that reflected his resilience and determination. But it was in the simple joys of life where his true happiness thrived – golfing, fishing, and playing softball and football with family and friends.

In 1992, David embraced his greatest role with boundless love and joy as he welcomed his son, David Stephen Sproat, into the world with Sophie Ramon Sproat. Little David, as he is affectionately known, became the center of his universe, filling his days with love and immeasurable happiness.

Throughout his career, David exemplified the values he held dear: hard work, honesty, and integrity. From his tenure at the Texas Department of Transportation to his role as a Senior Engineering Inspector for the City of Plano, David's dedication left an indelible mark on those he served and worked alongside. His retirement marked the end of a chapter filled with hard work, accomplishment, and unwavering commitment.

Sundays found him cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys and he would catch the Texas Rangers in action whenever he could. He was a true fan. His love for Elvis, music, and strumming his guitar filled his days with rhythm and melody.

Yet, beyond his interests and hobbies, David's true essence shone through in the warmth of his laughter and the kindness of his heart. A man of humor and thoughtfulness, he touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His devotion to family was unwavering, his love unending.

David is preceded in death by his sister, Carrie Martin, and brother-in-law, Tim Martin, as well as his father, Orval Sproat. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will be forever cherished by his son, David Sproat; former wife, Sophie Sproat; mother, Dee Sproat; brother and sisters, Steve (Janice) Sproat, Debbie Mechlem, and Kristina (Ron) Jones; and nieces and nephews, Lacey Sproat, Alicia (Adam, Adreyan, Aaliyah) Hall, Colby (Morganne) Martin, Blake Mechlem, and Dustin Jones.

In the hearts of those who loved him, David's spirit will forever reside. May his memory be a source of comfort and solace to all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, dear David, knowing you are deeply loved and profoundly missed, and your spirit will forever illuminate our lives.
