David Leon Thomas, 81, of Aubrey, Texas passed away on November 7, 2024, at his home. He was born in Canandaigua, New York, on June 13, 1943, to Leon and Mary (Barden) Thomas.
David grew up on a dairy farm in Upstate New York. He enlisted in the US Army after graduation and served 13 years in the Army, Army Reserve, and Texas Army National Guard. David worked as a lineman for RG&E and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. He and Rosemary were married in New York in 1969. They moved to Texas in 1978, where their two children were born. He worked in Forecasting and Finance for Verizon until retirement. David's family was his greatest achievement. He was a loving, supportive, and kind husband and father.
One of his personal highlights was a trip to Philmont with his son's Boy Scout Troop. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and backpacking. David loved traveling with his wife and family, including summer vacations in Canandaigua for many years.
David is survived by his wife, Rosemary Thomas, of Aubrey, Texas; daughter, Caitlin Ehman and her husband Walt of San Antonio, Texas; son, Andy Thomas and his wife, Elisabeth of Durham, North Carolina; grandchildren Cole, Milo, Wesley, Cooper, Carson, and Cash; and sister-in-law Betty Thomas. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and brothers, Peter Thomas, and Jerry Thomas.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 2:00pm, in Cole Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Denton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to First United Methodist Church of Denton, or to the charity of your choice.
