Obituary

Dean David (DD) Brittian passed away in Denton on November 18, 2013.

DD was born in Ponder, Texas on February 23, 1932 to Dean and Kattie Lane Brittian. He graduated from Ponder High School in 1951 in a class of six girls with him being the only boy. He graduated from North Texas State College in 1959.

He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He left Ponder in 1960 to work for LTV in California. He went to work for Rockwell International in 1975 in the Philippines. He returned to Ponder in 1992. Then he went to work for James Wood Auto in Denton.

DD served on the Ponder City Council, Planning and Zoning Committee and was Mayor Pro-term. He served on the North Texas Fair and Rodeo for 17 years as a committeeman.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Stanley; daughter-in-law, Melanie Brittian; grandchildren, Jenny, Sean, and Justin Brittian; step-son, George Sanchez; sister, Delane Finley; nephew, Jack Brittian and wife Debbie; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and a host of the most wonderful friends in the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve; brothers, Pat, Melvin, Leroy, and Lane; and sisters, Evelyn Bolton and Oleta Deussen.

Visitation will be held at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Ponder, Texas. Burial will follow at Eakins Cemetery in Ponder, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Ashman, Tyler Ashman, Mike Durrett, Geoff Prose, Jeff Vardell, and Jason Trosper. Honorary Pallbearers will be DeRoyce Bolton, Mark (Muley) Morton, Steve Futch, Clem Deussen, Kurt Bluhm, Larry Don Deussen, Clem (Bubba) Deussen, Bert Pope, Eddie Mills, Bruce Schinder, and Jim (Goog) Brooks.
