Dennis Wayne Carlson

Dennis Wayne Carlson, Sr. 77 passed away on August 13, 2026 in Denton, Texas. He was born on September 10, 1948 in Crookston, Minnesota to Woodrow Theodore Carlson and Stella Marie Barlow.

Dennis served in the US Army for 8 years. Following his time with the Army, he worked for Bell Helicopter for 44 years.

Dennis enjoyed being among the great outdoors and nature. Wherever he went he typically had a group of dogs wagging their tails right beside him. Dennis also loved the country life; going to rodeos and horseshows, working with horses, and Smokey the bull were among his favorite past times. When he wasn't outside enjoying nature, you could bet he was inside with Garfield and the rest of the feline crew snuggled near him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Anne Carlson, whose partnership with Dennis was a profound source of happiness and companionship. Dennis is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family, who brought immense joy and pride into his life. Dennis is also survived by many family members from Pennsylvania, Crookston, Minnesota, Texas, Colorado and Arizona.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate his life at a Celebration of Life service. The service will take place on August 29, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Denton County Cowboy Church, located at 400 Robinson Rd, Ponder, Texas. This gathering will be an opportunity for reflection, remembrance, and honoring a life well lived.

Though Dennis has departed from this world, his legacy endures in the hearts of those he touched. His presence will be dearly missed, and his memory forever cherished.
