Diana Kathryn Barns, 35, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2026, from a sudden cardiac event after a bike ride.
Diana had a way of loving people with deep insight that made you feel truly seen and known. She was a source of comfort to so many and was genuinely kind, caring, and thoughtful. She made sacrifices for others, celebrated people well, and understood the value of spending meaningful time together. She was present with others in a way that was calm and intentional, never distracted or frustrated, making people feel valued and cared for. In moments of confusion or fear, she brought wisdom, clarity, and eased other people’s burdens. Her love for others left a lasting impact and we hope to carry that same love and care forward in the way we live and love others.
She was born on February 15, 1991, in Denton, Texas. Diana graduated from Denton Calvary Academy in May 2009 and then attended Oklahoma Baptist University where she played tennis and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design in 2013. At OBU she discovered an interest in ceramics which she continued to develop after graduation. In 2017 she had the opportunity and privilege to apprentice in Devon, England. She expanded her skills, returned to Denton, and established Diana Barns Pottery. Since that time she has made beautiful functional pottery alongside friends and the artistic community at The Dime Store in Denton. Many of us will treasure her pieces for years to come.
Diana worshiped at The Village Church Denton. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends doing many fun things. Camping, traveling, bike riding, tennis, photography, and board games to name a few. Diana loved dogs, especially her longtime companion Rosie, who was her college graduation present, and her special dog Piper.
Diana is survived by her parents, Steve and Kathryn Barns, her sister Resa (Tyler) Curbo, her brothers Will (Crystal) Barns and Greg Barns. Also surviving her are nieces Ava and Jaelyn Barns, and nephews Mitchell, Cooper, and Oliver Curbo, Levi and Lucas Barns, as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A visitation will be held May 15, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at DeBerry Funeral Home, Denton. A funeral service will be held at The Village Church, Denton ( 1106 W. Oak St., 76201) May 16, 2026, at 10:00 am followed by a graveside service at Old Alton Cemetery, 5720 Teasley Lane, Denton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Habitat 4 Paws in Diana’s honor.
