It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dolores Collins, age 88, who departed this life on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. She was born on December 25, 1935, in Sweet Home, Texas to Stanley and Emma (Dvorak/Harrison) Machart.
Dolores was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. As her profession, she was a mother for most of her career. She also worked at Voertman's Book Store and for Collins Construction. She was a great source of inspiration and strength to those who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, wisdom, compassion and love for family and will be remembered for her fun loving, sassy ways and devotion to all her family.
Dolores is survived by her eight children: Cecilia and Jody Payne, Donna and Dan Perkins, Chris and Patti Becker, Alison and Adam Bednarczyk, Douglas and Leslie Becker, Ellen Becker, Julia and Ron Rios and Stephanie Polk. She loved and adored her 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Stanley John Machart and Emma May Machart Harrison. Her step father, John B. Harrison. Her husband, Bill Collins. Her siblings, Lorene Krametbauer, Bill Machart, Mary Ann Jodzko, Helen Price and Paul Machart.
Dolores grew up in Hallettsville, Texas where she went to Sacred Heart Catholic School until High School. While in High School, her family moved to Denton, Texas. She finished her schooling at Denton High School and graduated in 1954. She attended Texas Woman's University as a nursing student for two years. Throughout her life, Dolores was dedicated to her church, Immaculate Conception Church and was faithful on St. Frances Circle and the Alter Society. She was forever dedicated to her family. She loved spending time with & supporting family efforts and particularly loved spending time playing games with family.
Lately, her most favorite games were Farkle, Five Crowns, Skip-Bo and Pollyanna. When not spending time with family, you could find her spending time in her garden or reading books at home. She was a voracious reader most her life and spent many trips to the library checking out books to read. She loved to travel when she was able. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2255 N. Bonnie Brae Street, Denton, Texas 76207 at 9:00am. A Rosary will follow at 9:30 on Monday, January 6, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be held on the same day at 10:00 am with a procession to the Roselawn Cemetery to follow: 3801 Roselawn Dr. Denton, TX 76207. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Knights of Columbus Hall: 1700 Riney Road in Denton to celebrate the life of Dolores Machart Collins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic School an organization that was close to Dolores's heart.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown to our family during this difficult time. Dolores Machart Collins memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
