IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores Ann
Nabors Valastro
March 1, 1933 – March 17, 2021
Dolores Ann (Nabors) Valastro, 88, of Denton, TX passed away on March 17, 2021 in Denton. She was born on March 1, 1933 in Houston, Texas to Hazel (Daigle) Nabors and Theodore "Ted" Nabors, announcer for KTRH radio at the time.
Dolores attended the University of Houston where she received her Liberal Arts degree in Spanish and English in 1955. She married and later moved to Austin, TX in 1966, where she and her husband raised their three children. She later began a career in education and retired from Austin Community College where she worked as a Financial Aid Specialist for 25 years and found her passion in helping students achieve their educational goals through financial aid. Following her retirement, she followed her eldest daughter to Denton, TX.
Dolores was a deeply spiritual person, extremely kind, giving and generous with her time and talents. Having been born 5 years before the end of the U.S. Great Depression and later growing up during WW II, she always chose to see the positive side in any of life's hardships. She loved reading books of all kinds but especially those about the mystical mysteries of life and the world. She loved to travel and see new places when she could and was a tower of emotional support to both family and friends.
Dolores, beloved mother and grandmother, is survived by her children, Maria Valastro Harris of Little Elm, TX; son, Michael S. Valastro, of Georgetown, TX and daughter, Cecile M. Valastro, of Sherwood, OR; son-in-law Travis E. Harris Jr, daughter-in-law Jackie Valastro and son-in-law Doug Williamson; grandchildren: Michael C. Berg, Jonathan W. Berg, Travis E. Harris III, Alyssa Counterman, Alex Valastro, Anthony Valastro and great grandchildren Michael Counterman and Ian Berg. Dolores was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel (Daigle) Nabors; father, Theodore Nabors; and brother Paul Nabors
