Obituary

Don Abercrombie of Denton, Texas.


Don Abercrombie passed away in the presence of his family into the arms of our heavenly Father on September 12, 2012.

He was born on September 15, 1927 in Dallas, Texas. A lifetime resident of Dallas, Texas he was enjoying his retirement in Denton. The youngest of six children he survived his entire family to live a wonderful life. Don was accomplished at many things.

Throughout his life he won many golf tournaments and was an avid outdoorsman. He had a beautiful voice and he was never happier than when listening to Southern Gospel music. He loved his family and he was a shining example of walking the Christian walk to each and every one of them. He was very blessed and successful in his career and had enjoyed his retirement.


Don is survived by his wife Helen Abercrombie, who was his college sweetheart at the University of North Texas. They were married on November 16, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church in Mexia, Texas. He is also survived by their children, daughter Donna Abercrombie McClendon and her husband Laurence, son Carter Abercrombie and his wife Angi, and three grandchildren Barrett Laurence McClendon, Alyssa Jamison McClendon and Presley Tene't Abercrombie. Don will be laid to rest as a former member of the United States Navy at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
