Don Allen Carlile, 77, of Argyle passed away on February 21, 2017 in Denton, Texas. He was born January 19, 1940 in Houston, Texas to Allen Alvin and Nora Jane (Creecy) Carlile. He married Joan Evelyn Davis in 1963 in Irving, Texas.
Don was born in Harris Hospital weighing 2 pounds 13 ounces in a time when preemie's seldom survived. He grew up in DFW area where his grandfather was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Haslet. He studied the Bible earnestly as a young man, and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ where in later years served as a Preacher and Elder. After high school Don served as a Marine, after serving he joined the Marine Corp League and served as a Commandant and Judge Advocate & Devil Dogs. Don had many talents including earning a degree in Criminal Justice which he utilized in his career as a police officer, and as a Police Chief. While serving as the Police Chief of Pecos, TX, he studied Hypnotherapy as applied in the Criminal Justice System, and earned his certification and made a career from it after retiring from law enforcement. In his 50's he earned a Master of Arts in Bible & Ministry, and began his final career change. All who know him knows Don's most cherished role was being a husband, son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and servant of the Lord.
Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan Evelyn, two daughters, Julie Shirley and husband Mark of Lubbock, Sherry Schindler of Argyle, two sons, Daniel Carlile and wife Laura of Fort Hood, David Carlile of Justin, twelve grandchildren, Brittany, Danielle, Mason, Kinsley, Hailey, LeNora, Luke, Ashley, Jeffery, Tyler, Mark, Eric and eight great grandchildren.
He is preceded by death by his parents, Allen and Nora.
Visitation will be Friday February 24, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Saturday February 25, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at North Texas Church of Christ in Justin, Texas. Burial will follow at Bourland Cemetery in Keller, Texas.
