Don Wade Ford passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024, in Ponder, Texas. He was born in Denton County, Texas on October 31, 1939, to Neely T. and Ethel Mae Ford. He married Nancy L. Foster in 1957. Don is preceded in death by his parents, brother Billy Ford, and sister Loyce Ford.  He was a member of the Denton County Cowboy Church.

Don served as President and board member of the Ponder ISD School Board, as well as President and Arena Director of the North Texas High School Rodeo Association, all spanning over two decades. He was a member and past President of Eakin Cemetery, a member of the Justin (Krum) Masonic Lodge and a past member of the Ponder Volunteer Fire Department. He was a true servant of the Ponder community.

Don took great joy in supporting his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren in all of their activities and adventures, from rodeos, to baseball, to basketball, to football and volleyball. He was present for everything they participated in and always full of positive praise and wise advice.

Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy, sons Craig (Cindy) Ford and Mike (Connie) Ford of Ponder, and a daughter Carrie (Bobby) Stout of Forestburg.  Six Grandchildren, Randi Ford (Jimmy), Wade Ford, Foster Ford, Cordie Ford, Taylor (Paige) Stout and Madison (Thomas) Glascock of Marietta, OK and 5 Great-Grandchildren, Tripp Jumper, Shady Stout, Rhet Stout, Piper Glascock and Leddy Glascock. He is also survived by one sister, Joyce Ashcraft of Denton, TX.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Stout, Taylor Stout, Wade Ford, Foster Ford, Thomas Glascock and Jimmy Jumper.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Zelda Loyd of Ponder for her exceptional care of Don and the love and attention she gave to him.

Visitation will be held at the Denton County Cowboy Church from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Funeral services will begin at 12:00pm on Friday April 19, 2024, at the church, with interment to follow at Eakins Cemetery, Justin, TX.
