"55 Not!" was a long standing punch line, Don Michalewicz was known to say, especially when it pertained to his 1988, 35th Anniversary Edition Chevy Corvette. This was Don's way of saying he would never really be old and would never keep it under 55 mph. Most people knew him for his towering height and contagious humor.

Don Jürgen Michalewicz was born to Victor and Alice Michalewicz in Laer, Germany. At the age of six, Don traveled with his family on a ten day journey across the Atlantic with the view to make a better life in the United States. Providing this opportunity, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Rayzor sponsored the young Romanian-Polish family to migrate to Denton, Texas.

Many challenges were overcome by the Michalewicz family as they settled in Denton from learning the English language to learning how to be Texan.

Don went to Denton schools and graduated from Denton High in 1969. Fellow students and friends knew him by the nickname of "Pickle." Coined from the front row of the old Campus Theatre, when he accidentally blocked the view of those seated behind him, a pickle was thrown and landed on the back of his head.

After graduation, he was no stranger to Denton industries and began work at Morrison Milling. Following Morrision's, he worked at Victor Technologies for over 30 years, eventually retiring to Euless, Texas.

Don is survived by his wife, Frankie Michalewicz of Euless, his daughter Michelle Harwell of Denton, his parents Victor and Alice Michalewicz of Denton, his brother Harry Michalewicz of Denton, and his step-children Blake Wilson, Alan Fiaccone, Rusty Simpson, Tanna Simpson, Cindy McFadden and grandchildren Tyler Collier, Alexis Fiaconne, Annessia Fiaconne, Madison Simpson, Savanna Simpson and Kaylie Currington.

Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on June 15, 2015 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
