Obituary

Donald Glen Johnson, age 91, of Denton, Texas, passed away on April 17, 2026.

Don was born on September 14, 1934, to Hoyt and Juanita Johnson. He lived a full and faithful life centered on family, service, and his devotion to God.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a role he carried with honor throughout his life. He worked as a manager at Kroger in Sherman, Texas, before moving to Houston. He later settled in Denton, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Juanita. While in Denton, he continued his career working at Walmart.

A man of deep faith, Don loved the Lord with all his heart. There was not a day that went by that he didn’t have his Bible in his hand. He and his wife faithfully led Bible studies in nursing homes and were devoted members of their church community. Don was known for his generosity, kindness, and the love he showed to his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita Johnson; his children, Shelley and John Hensley, Donna and Bruce Jones, Ashley and Dakota Miller, Rhonda and Jeff Shultz, Tina and Ray Chambers, Terry and Treka Vickers, and Maurice and Skyla Vickers; his siblings, Wanda Sprayberry and Eddy Johnson and wife Patsy; his grandchildren, Amari Payne and Jett Miller; and his great-grandchildren, Alexa Jones and Trieu, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Juanita Johnson; his sisters, Mozelle Slack and Judy Shipman; and his grandchildren, Nicholas and Aaron Jones.

Don will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his unwavering faith, servant’s heart, and the love he shared so freely with all who knew him.
