January 25, 1940 – February 19, 2021
Donald Wayne Masten returned to his heavenly home on February 19, 2021 surrounded by his wife and daughters. Don was born in Sanger, Texas to Clarence and Velma Masten on January 25, 1940, where he remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from Sanger High School, class of 1958, and went on to UNT where he got his master's degree in special education. He helped to educate the youth of the Denton School District for over 33 years. He was married to Linda Hicks Masten on December 18, 1971, and they had 2 loving daughters.
Mr. Masten was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Forrest Gene Masten, and Larry Masten and sister Laverne Odom.
He is survived by Linda, his wife of 49 years, daughters; Amy Cook and husband Christopher, of Sanger, and Karen Farmer and husband Daniel also of Sanger, and 7 grandchildren who were the light of his life; Haden and Kailey Sprabeary, and Anthony, Regan, Emma, Avery, and Presley Farmer.
The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors Tuesday, February 23, 2021 night from 6-8:00 p.m. for visitation. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., held at the First Baptist Church of Sanger with Rev. Grant Bowles officiating. Burial will follow at the Sanger Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be; Haden Sprabeary, Anthony Farmer, Christopher Cook, Daniel Farmer, Robert Sprabeary, Sr. and Robert Sprabeary, Jr.
