Donald (Don) Melton Harper, 80, of Denton, Texas passed away on July 10, 2017 in Denton. He was born on October 29, 1936 in Sanger, Texas to Hiram (Jack) and Ruth Myrtle (Melton) Harper. He was married to the late Lila Lee Latham Harper.
Don graduated from Sanger High School in 1956 and North Texas State University (now UNT) in 1960. He was a member of The Denton Bible Church and served as a volunteer there. He gave his life to Jesus in 1948 at First Baptist Church in McAlester, OK. He is a former member of the Denton Civic Boys Choir, which became the Texas Boys Choir. Don was also a former member of First Christian Church where he served as an Elder and Chairman of the Board.
Don is survived by his two sons, Don Lee Harper and wife Susan, James Melton Harper and wife Angela, four grandchildren, Sara, Chris, Jacob and Aiden, one great-grandchild Jaxon, and sister, Wynema Arledge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ruth, wife Lila and sister, Doris Medley.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 15 at 2:00 pm at Denton Bible Church, 2300 E University Dr.
