Obituary

Betty Dorinne Williams Reynolds
November 4, 1929 – March 11, 2024

Betty Dorinne Williams Reynolds went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 11, 2024. Dorinne, as she liked to be called, was born on November 4, 1929 at home, to Robert Lee and Ida Elmus Williams in Houston, Texas. She was the 7th and last child born to the family. Dorinne grew up in Houston and attended Jeff David high school. While there, Dorinne most especially enjoyed being the band's drum major and had many friends. As a senior in high school Dorinne started dating her future husband, James Howard Reynolds who had already graduated from Jeff Davis the previous year. They married on July 14, 1950. Their union lasted 65 years, parted by the passing of Howard in 2015.

In her younger years Dorinne was a pastor's wife, fulfilling the role with excellence. She was also very gifted with organization, and worked in various places as a secretary while Howard was pastoring at First Baptist Church, Los Alamos, New Mexico. In addition to filling in occasionally for Howard's secretary at the church, Dorinne worked part time in the Los Alamos science labs. When the family moved to Denton, Texas in 1972, Dorinne worked several years at the University of North Texas in the Political Science Department. Her helping skills continued as she worked alongside Howard when he started a plastic pipe and supply company in the late 1970s. Eventually, sometime in the 1980s, Dorinne decided to try her hand as a realtor, and found extreme pleasure in helping people find their forever home.

Dorinne was a naturally humble woman and had a servant's heart. One of her many gifts was hospitality; she loved to entertain! Dorinne found joy in cooking and having people over to their home. Many times she would have to "stretch" a meal to include 6 or 7 people with a moment's notice. She was a master at it, often cutting baked potatoes in half and dousing them with cheddar cheese. Cheese was one of Dorinne's favorite accompaniments to any meal (along with dessert, of course!), and she especially enjoyed casseroles, liberally sprinkling
the cheese with more than the allocated amount. During her later years, if it wasn't a casserole or quiche, she didn't want to eat it!

Dorinne is survived by her 2 daughters, Stacye Robison and husband Kenny of Denton, Texas, Kellye Gautier and husband, Tommy of  Bentonville, Arkansas, and 8 grandchildren who Dorinne (Mamaw to them) took great pride in and dearly loved. They are Kristin Walker (Justin), Adrienne Woods (Jonathan), Matthew Robison, Nathan Gautier (Kristen), Natalie Wilson (Joseph), Sarah Beth McAlister (Josh), Jonathan Gautier and Timothy Gautier. Dorinne also had the extreme privilege of being Great Grandmother to 8 precious great grandchildren,
Henry, Amelia, Thomas, Finley, Dawson, Gray, Charlie, and Liam. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews who are too numerous to name.

Dorinne was preceded in death by her infant son, James Howard Reynolds, Jr., parents, Robert and Elmus Williams, brother Aubrey, Sister Georgia May, brother Robert, brother Weldon, sister Dorothy, sister Gloria, and husband, J. Howard. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
