Dorothy Ruth (Rankin) McDaniel was born on June 29, 1929 in Denton County, Texas to Georgia White and S.T. Rankin. Dorothy graduated from Denton High School then attended North Texas State University.

She married W.H. McDaniel on April 23, 1948 on the Bride and Groom Radio Show in Hollywood, California.  Making Krum their home, Dorothy McDaniel blazed a trail for women in Denton, Texas.  She was the first female schoolboard member for Krum ISD, the first female Bank Vice President for University State Bank.  In addition, she was an administrator for Westgate Hospital, City Secretary for Krum and later for the City of Double Oak.

She is survived by her son, Clark McDaniel and wife, Margaret of San Antonio, Texas, granddaughters, Ivey and Grace McDaniel of San Jose, California and Spokane, Washington, Daughter-in-Law, Carla McDaniel and granddaughter, Marcy Warning and husband, Matthew Warning of Gautier, Mississippi, grandson, Matthew McDaniel and wife, Diana of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, as well as three great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, S.T and Georgia Rankin, her brother, Oliver Rankin, her husband, W.H. McDaniel and her son, Mark McDaniel.

Visitation will be Friday, August 17 ^th , 2018 at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 5:00-7:00 P.M. The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 18 ^th , 2018 at the same location. Internment will immediately follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum, Texas.
