Dorothy "Nell" McDuff passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born in Medina, Texas to Jeff and Dorothy Keese on January 8, 1932. She moved to Denton with her first love, Floyd Cook, where they worked for Rayzor Ranch and started their family. They had three children- Joy LaNell, Everett Floyd, and Eric Travis. Nell worked for many years as a clerk at the Denton County courthouse. In the early 80s, she remarried to her second love, Dick Greenway McDuff. It was at this point in her life that she spread her wings in her most treasured craft- sewing, quilting, and embroidery. She was an incredibly talented seamstress, quilter, and embroideress who shared her talent in many ways- her granddaughter can remember attending "Granny Nell's Sewing Classes" on weekends. In the 1990s, with two granddaughters, she sewed ornate Barbie wardrobes. As the times changed, and with her great-granddaughters, she broadened her scope and began sewing doll clothes for the more popular 18 inch dolls. These pieces have been showcased at craft shows, quilt shows, and donated to local toy drives. She was always active in church, and was a member of the Stony United Methodist Church in Ponder, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Geraldine, Charles, Jack, Fred, her son-in-law Richard Walters, and her husband Dick McDuff.

She is survived by her daughter, Joy LaNell Walters, two sons Everett Floyd Cook (wife- Hilda), Eric Cook (wife- Marile), her grandchildren, Ryan Walters (wife- Tamera), Clay Walters, Charles Cook (wife- Emily), Cacye Cook, Rey Cook, Rachael Graham (husband- Cody), and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Tuesday at Jackson Cemetery in Krum, Texas.
