Douglas M. Moore, 72, of Corinth passed away on July 3, 2019 at Medical City Denton. He was born on November 3, 1946 in Ennis, Texas to Henry and Elsie (Myrick) Moore.
Doug left Grapevine High School his senior year 1966 to serve in the military and received his GED during that time. After his military exit, he earned his Associates Degree of Science from North Central Texas College in Gainesville, TX, and later attended North Texas State University in Denton, TX for 3 years. He served in the United States Army from November 1966 to December 1969 and upon Honorable Discharge was a SGT. E-5. Highlights from his service time included time in Fort Polk, LA; Site NCO for garrison communications, Camp Casey, Republic of Korea; Comcenter Specialist at Fort Gorden, GA; Top secret-crypto security clearance; Company NCO armorer, Fort Bragg, NC; and Death Notification-Family Help Team, Fort Bragg, NC.
He married Ann Maxwell in June 1968 and moved from Euless to Lewisville where he made a home for the next 29 years. He worked for AT&T Communications Facilities Dept at 4100 Bryan in Dallas, TX as a Communications Specialist from 1970-1990. He then transferred to an outside plant maintaining Regen's & fiber optic installation and protection before retiring from AT&T in December 1999. In the 1980's, Doug held his PADI open water diver certification and loved being part of the North Texas Mustang Club. He had a 1971 Mustang Fastback that was cherry red with white interior that won several show awards.
He moved to Corinth in 1999 and shared his home and life with Carolyn Langer and they were married in April 2019. He went to work for the City of Corinth in August of 2002 as a Utilities Line Locater and retired from there in December 2012. He loved his grandkids dearly and lit up every time he saw them. He loved to shop and couldn't pass up a sale or good deal, no matter the item or its use. His neighbors adored him, and he always loved mowing extra yards and fixing every one's cars, just because he liked to help others. He spent many of hours at the Dallas auto salvage yards, dragging kids and tools along as needed. He enjoyed playing Santa for family, friends, and work events. He enjoyed dinner at his mom's house spending time with his family, and in the recent years after his health became more compromised, he spent most hours enjoying his yard and flowers, and drinking coffee outside with Carolyn.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Corinth, son, Scott Moore of Sanger, daughter, Shelley Oldham and husband Wes of Sanger, step-daughter, Michelle Tennison and husband Shannon of Dallas, brothers, Billy Moore and wife Jan of Grapevine, Hoyt Moore and wife Beth of Keller, Ted Moore and wife Ditas of North Richland Hills, sister, Sandra Sackville of Euless, granddaughters, Allie Oldham and Riley Oldham, grandson, Reid Oldham, step-grandson Brannon Tennison, great-grandchild, Cash Wade, and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at First Assembly of God, DFW at 3800 State Highway 121 in Bedford, Texas. Interment will follow at the Dallas / Ft. Worth National Cemetery at 2:15 PM with The U.S. Army providing military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to American Heart Association in honor of Douglas M. Moore
