Obituary

Douglas Eugene Turner was born 24 September 1934 in Altamont, Grundy County, Tennessee. He was the sixth of seven children born to Charlie Woods Turner and Flora Elisabeth Fults. He passed through the veils to the eternities on 6 June 2025 in Denton, Denton County, Texas. Prepared for a joyous reunion with him on the other side of the veil are his parents, his brothers Robert Eston, Charles Waymond, and Kenneth Joseph; his sisters, Flora Edna, and Juanita Christine; his daughter, Vicky Dianne; and his grandson Benjamin Douglas Sage.

He loved being outdoors, Dr Pepper, and most of all his family. He was known by many names throughout his life, Doug, Bill, Shorty, Dad, Pop, Brother Turner, and his favorite, Grandpa. Grandpa is only his favorite because that is what his great grandkids called him also. He was known throughout his life as an avid outdoorsman. Fish shivered at the sound of his hook on the lake and wild game had a healthy respect for his presence. His garden was envied by many and he shared the fruits of his labor generously. He was a hard worker and could build anything he saw if he really wanted it.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Janette, his sister Lois Hayes of Payson, UT, his son Michael Turner (Kathy) of Denton and his daughter, Sherri Boudreaux (Kevin) of Sanger. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Nicole Chadwick (Scott), Adam Sage, April Brown (Joshua), Elisabeth Bradley (Roark), Mark Howenstein, Brian Boudreaux (Johanna), Steven Boudreaux (Ashley), Jessica Anderson (Tyler), Jason Boudreaux (Stephanie), Kelli Barton (Taylor), and 21 great-grandchildren. His great-grandchildren are Luke, William, Rachel, and Sarah Chadwick; Daylen, Ryker, Archer, and Keaton Rodriguez; Catherine Bradley; Gabriel, Addilyn, and Nicolas Boudreaux; Caden, Zoe, Alexa, and Macie Boudreaux; Scott, Rhett, and Cooper Boudreaux; and Ezra and Shae Barton.
