Obituary

Dwain Coffey, 63, died on May 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. His passing was the result of a tragic auto accident. He was born in Granfield, OK to Mary Coffey on October 21, 1960. He was raised in Wichita Falls, TX by his loving grandparents, Dan and Juanita Coffey.  He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, Uncle Dan Coffey, and infant sister, Renee Stephens.

He graduated from Wichita Falls High School, a devoted Coyote, forever. He attended and played baseball for The University of Oklahoma, thus creating his loyalty to all things OU. If you knew Dwain, you knew he was a faithful Sooner fan! He married Linda Lavy, and they shared 36 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and five children, Loretta Ross, Keith (Mika) Coffey, Channing Coffey, Michael (Emily) Coffey, and Jessica Coffey. His life will be cherished by his 10 grandchildren, Laci, Kelsey, & Kayla (Breanne) Ross, Rayleigh Davis, Jackson Coffey, Bellami & Berkely Coffey, and Destiny, Kimbell, & Nolan Fuentes; and his great grandson, Isaac Martinez. Dwain is also survived by his siblings, Mike (Carol) Patterson, Pat Patterson, Roberta (James) Beam, Tammy (Jaime) Hamilton, and Ray (Rhonda) Stephens.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday, May 27, 2024, at DeBerry Funeral Home, Denton, TX, with Rosary at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denton, TX. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton, TX. Pallbearers will be Baylee Stephens, Eric Lavy, Ivan Torres, JR Lavy, Jonathan Lavy, and Mark Lavy, with Danny Lavy serving as honorary pallbearer. In honor of Dwain's loyalty to OU, please feel free to wear Oklahoma fan gear or the color red, which was his favorite.

Dwain was a friend to everyone, stranger to none, and adopted as family to many. He was a trusted ally, brighter than the sun, and committed to ensuring his family knew his love for them was bigger than the sky.
