Obituary

Dwayne Ray Waters, 66 of Denton, passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 8, 2024 at Medical City Dallas after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his wife, who hardly left his side, his boys, who were his absolute pride, along with his beloved daughter-in-law. He was covered in prayer by many who loved him over the past three and a half months.

Dwayne was the owner of Briscoe Alignment and Tire, which he purchased from his late uncle Jack Briscoe in the early 90's. He was also the proud owner of A&W Productions, Inc in Sanger, which was started in the back of the tire store in 1996.

Dwayne married Lisa Keen Hitch on September 23, 2014 in a private ceremony witnessed only by his beloved aunt Vanna Ingram. They followed it a month later with a wedding ceremony in Mexico with 27 of their closest friends, a fun-filled week that is still talked about. The best memories include the annual baseball trip to a different stadium every summer with their travel friends, countless weekends at the lake house with their Moss Lake family and the annual Waters Super Bowl party with 70 of his closest friends.

Dwayne was truly a best friend to many and his smile lit up the room. He was always generous to his friends, family and employees, he absolutely loved people and was one of the most positive people you could meet. He was a 10+ year cancer survivor, and often used his survival story to share his strong faith and his love for the Lord. He and his wife were members of Cross Timbers Church.

Dwayne is survived by his devoted wife Lisa (aka to Dwayne as "Sunshine"), his son Marshall Waters and wife Maggie, of Highland Shores, his son Sam Waters of Denton, his stepdaughter Blair Hitch of Binghamton, NY, his mother Carolyn Waters of Hereford, sister Joan Grimsley, brother Kenneth Waters and wife, Arla, and his sister-in-law Judy Starks, along with in-laws Walter and Glenda Keen.

He was preceded in death by his father Don, his brother Richard Waters, who he fondly spoke of often, and his brother-in-law Mike Grimsley.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 10am, with the funeral service to follow at 11am, both at Cross Timbers Church, 1119 US Hwy 377, Argyle. Dwayne will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.

Pallbearers will be his dear friends Tim Beaty, Stormy Bryce, Doug Hartman, Tim Herr, Dylan Meredith, Charles Posey, Randy Sahm and Giles Walterscheid.

Memorials may be made to UT Southwestern Medical Center , Office of Development & Alumni Relations, Post Office Box 910888, Dallas, Texas 75391.
