Earl Wayne Ray died on Saturday, March 22, in Denton, Texas. He was born December 16, 1944, in Borger, Texas to W.H. Rape and Loraine McMinn Rape. He attended Borger public schools, graduating in 1963.
He played football as quarterback and safety for the Borger High School Bulldogs. He attended Southern Methodist University where he played corner back for the Mustangs and was elected captain in 1967.
Mr. Ray worked as a stockbroker and in college athletics with Gene Mayfield and Hayden Fry, his former high school and college football coaches before entering the self-storage industry.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Lee, sons David and Robert, his sister Beverley Dees, five grandchildren Olivia, Camille, Eliza, Grace, and Jack, and two nieces Kelley Shaw and Shannon Peterson.
Funeral service will be held at Center Plains Cemetery in Cotton Center, Texas on Sunday, April 13 at 10:00 am.
