Earl Cortis
Watson, Jr.
January 8, 1956 – October 22, 2019
Earl Cortis Watson Jr., passed on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the age of 63 leaving behind his most beloved wife, three sons, and daughter. His life will be celebrated, and his legacy will carry on through the many lives he touched.
As a man, he was steadfast and strong, served in the Air Force, and later became a watchmaker owning 'Hands of Time' while starting his family in Colorado. Born in the 'Land of 10,000 Lakes' he was most at peace when on the water. Memories of canoeing, learning to ski, deep sea fishing, and simply dropping a line fill his loved ones with comfort.
As a friend, he was an influencer and musician. He believed in going the extra mile and putting in the work. A lesson reinforced through his actions regularly. His long-term profession was in driving winning several Million Mile Awards and countless Safety Awards. He enjoyed the open road, the exploration it provided and the scenic terrain it offered. When he wasn't driving, he was thinking of family and music. His passion was listening to love songs from Led Zeppelin, Tears for Fears, and The Beatles. He sang and played any instruments with strings and found a connection in others who shared this same passion.
As a dad, he was an educator and role model with family at the center of everything he did. He taught his son how to respect the earth, how to help others whenever in need, and how to love with his whole heart. He taught his daughter how to be bold, how to speak her mind, and how to show and share compassion with any she meet. He could fix anything and never missed an opportunity to share his vast and deep knowledge of everything. Even as a deeply intuitive man, he knew how to have fun and when to laugh.
As a husband, he told his wife how beautiful she was every morning. He loved her every day for over 34 years and always wanted to be near her. Together they enjoyed traveling, but Earl was the initiator. He pushed her to do more than she thought she could and then some. He was her best friend and lover. Adventures stretched near and far, but the most enjoyed moments were those on the veranda listening to music.
He had a wonderful perspective on life and living and what was important. He will be missed, but forever remembered.
Earl wanted to be 'of the earth'. He is laid to rest at Lake Ray Roberts in Pilot Point, Texas. (33°22'25.7"N 97°01'25.3"W)
Instead of cards and flowers donations to Denton United Way soup kitchen in memory of Earl Watson would be greatly appreciated.
