Obituary

Edna Anayansi McCormick of Carrollton, and formerly Killeen [40 years], Texas, passed away on February 8, 2026, at the age of 88. Edna was a heart attack survivor who fought different cancers valiantly for 10+ years.

Edna was a cherished mother, grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by her children Alfred Bondurant, Jr. (Linette), Inez Bondurant, Veronica Bondurant-Fincher (DeLeonard), and Raquel McMinn (Bryan); her cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Karina (Brandon), Kristti, Bridgit, Luke, Drake, Maria Sophia, Alfred III, DeLaney, and Hillary; and dozens of other family members from nieces and nephews near and abroad whom she dearly loved.

Edna was born on May 31, 1937, in Panama, Central America. She was preceded in death by her parents Julio On and Maxima Caballero; siblings Jose, Sylvia, and Nivia; as well as her husband Larry McCormick.

Throughout her life, Edna remained curious and enjoyed adventures from her youth in Panama where she relished time in nature, swimming in beaches and rivers along with dancing; and travels in her adulthood where she enjoyed touring Europe as a military spouse, finally settling in Texas - enjoying all that the American dream offered.

Edna was a dedicated mother and wife. During the earlier years of her marriage to Alfred Bondurant, Sr., she worked alongside him to build the family business and raise their young family, later moving to Alabama following her husband’s dream of having the kids raised in his home state.

In her early adulthood, Edna trained to become a seamstress, later held positions as Operations Manager when working the family business, and finally in the Office of Admissions and Registrar at Central Texas College / Killeen, Texas.

Of all her vocations, Edna’s favorite was that of a homemaker. Once retired, Edna found meaning from loyalty to her family, community, and faith. She cherished any time she spent with family, enjoying her television time, movies, games, and catching up, especially for birthdays, special events, and holidays.

Edna was a strong believer in her faith in God and was devoted to Jesus and our Blessed Mother Mary’s intentions. Before moving to the DFW area in 2020, she was a parishioner of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen for 30 years, where she volunteered her time to help with the church’s financial matters and participated in pro-life efforts.

With her beloved sister Sylvia, in collaboration with her other beloved sister Nivia in Austin, and assistance from others, she was a founding member of the Carmelitas Descalzas [Discalced Carmelites] lay group, local to Killeen, Texas, as of 1996.

Throughout her life, Edna tracked countless Blessings. In a note she penned to her family on Oct. 17, 1999, Edna noted “…And please don’t be sad, because I’m with my celestial Mother and my Savior. Edna McCormick”

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Saturday March 14, 2026, at Saint Mark Catholic Church in Argyle, Texas.

Edna’s legacy will be honored with her interment in Killeen, Texas, at a later date.

May Edna rest in eternal peace with God our Father, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit, as she looked forward to enjoying during her time on Earth.
