Edward Joseph Bleess, 78, of Denton left this world peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren on February 15, 2017. He was born on June 25, 1938 in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Leo and Genevieve Bleess.
He proudly served his country in the Army from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1960. He married the love of his life Linda Fuller on June 2, 1962. Ed was an avid bowler and participated in league bowling for many years with his wife. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Ed was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Catholic fraternal service organization. During his membership with the Knights of Columbus, he held several leadership positions. Ed was also an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he faithfully served as an usher for over 35 years. He spent the majority of his life working as a mechanic in various capacities. His most recent employment was with Tommy Baker at Hyper- Head. He took pride in his work and was a loyal friend and faithful servant of God. He was cherished as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was also loved by all who knew him.
Edward is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda, two daughters, Anne Scaggs and husband Stephen, Jane Schurter and husband Kyle, three sons, Joseph Bleess and wife Melinda, Anthony Bleess and wife Amy, Matthew Bleess, eight grandchildren, Justin Morgan, Ashton Morgan, Katie Scaggs, Blake Bleess, Brittany Bleess, Eliza Schurter, Finn Schurter, and Lisa Williams, six great grandchildren, eight sisters, Leone/Dutch Nienhaus, Elaine/Tom Collison, Bernadine Paul, Kathryn/Bill Esser, Lois/Charles Hund, Irene/Dick Embacher, Monica/Terry David, Marie/Rob Nyberg, seven brothers, Donald/Audrey Bleess, Fredrick Bleess, Raymond/Bernadette Bleess, Maurice/Mary Bleess, Paul/Ginger Bleess, Thomas/Vickie Bleess and John Bleess.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Genevieve Bleess, sister, Geraldine who passed in infancy, sisters in law, Jeanne Bleess, Maryann Bleess, Karen Bleess and brother in law, Cyril Paul.
Visitation will be Monday February 20, 2017 from 6-7 P.M. With Rosary said at 7:00 P.M. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alpha-Omega Hospice, LP or the Immaculate Conceptions Church parking lot fund.
