Edward Daryle Wittmis of Denton, Texas passed from his earthly home on December 10, 2018. He was born on March 25, 1934 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Edward Johann Theodore Wittmis and Melissa Pearl (Rankin) Wittmis.
Edward is survived by his wife Alice Jean (Hill) Wittmis and his children: Michael Daryle Wittmis (Julie), Mitchell "Mitch" David Wittmis and Patricia Gail Roessler (Jimmy), Seven grandchildren: Jonathan (Brittany), Thomas (Rebecca), Jennifer (Trevor), Kristen, Justin (Lindsey), Jessica (Jacob), and Lauren. Five great grandchildren: Elisabeth, Axel, Hudson, Bryson, and Landrie. He is also survived by numerous unofficial adopted children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Chambers and Helen Rankin.
Ed enjoyed woodworking and was an avid bowler with numerous awards. He proudly served his country in the Army and the National Guard. He was a flour miller for bay state milling in Leavenworth. Ed's most loved career was as head custodian at Hodge Elementary School, where the students and staff lovingly called him "Mr. Ed". He never failed to greet you with a smile, silly joke, some dance moves, or a salute. One year he even kissed a pig.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 16 TH at 2:00 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Home.
