Edward Paul Yert, 77, of Justin, passed away at his home August 5, 2014 surrounded by his family.

Ed was born on August 19, 1936 in Dearborn Michigan. He married Barbara Jo Godbey and enjoyed 53 years of marriage before her passing in 2012.

Ed was a longtime resident of Justin. He enjoyed serving in several capacities in the Justin Youth Association. Ed was a caring, hardworking, family man. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. Ed embraced life with a smile, open heart, and helping hand. Ed looked for opportunities to encourage and lift up people no matter the situation. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am on Friday, August 8, 2014 with the funeral service beginning at 10:30 am in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Justin Cemetery.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara. He is survived by their daughter Joanne Yert, grandchildren Megan (Yert) & Eric Zollinger, Kevin Yert, and Sarah (Yert) & Hunter Collins, great-grandchildren Emma, Trey, Amme, & Ty Zollinger and Kaleb & Hayden Collins.
