Eileen Elizabeth Leahy, born on August 29, 1939, passed away at home on September 26, 2024. Eileen was passionate about her family, her friends, and good food. A nurturer by nature, Eileen showed love through her cooking. No one ever entered her home without being offered food and drink, and Eileen rarely entered another's home without bringing a bottle of wine, a dessert, or her home-made Irish soda bread.

Eileen's nurturing nature was reflected in her choice of career. Earning her nursing degree while raising two children, Eileen worked for several decades as a registered nurse, both in area hospitals and as a home-health nurse. Through her tenacity and hard work, Eileen set the example for her children and grandchildren of both the importance of education and of doing what you love.

A native of Ireland, Eileen passed along a love for her homeland to all who knew her. Eileen loved an Irish jig, St. Patrick's Day celebrations, and sharing stories and pictures of her beloved Mayo. Frequent trips to visit family and friends in Ireland always resulted in Irish treats being brought home for her grandchildren. A long-held dream was realized in 2023 when she finally got to take a trip to Ireland with all of her children and grandchildren, making memories that are cherished by all.

Eileen is survived by her daughter, Tricia and her husband Paul, her daughter Cara and her husband John, her grandchildren Paul, Andrew, Colin, Brendan, and Julia, her sisters Mary, Fran, and Catherine, Catherine's husband Charles, and her many nieces and a nephew, and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on October 17, 2024, at DeBerry Funeral Home, Denton, with a Rosary to begin at 6 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, Argyle, at 11 a.m. on October 18, 2024.
