Obituary

Elisabeth Long Gardner, 74, of Krum passed away on June 13, 2015 in Denton, Texas. She was born in Oxford, England on August 31, 1940 to Stanley and Mary (Gould) Long. She graduated from Cheney School for Girls in Oxford. She married Edward Gardner, an American Air Force G. I. stationed in Oxford. While raising her family in Oxford, Elisabeth had a part time job as a secretary for an Architectural firm. She later moved to Japan where Ed was stationed and joined the British Wives club as well as volunteered aiding Vietnamese refugees. Elisabeth and Ed also lived in Virginia, New Mexico, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina while Ed was in the Air Force. They moved permanently to Texas in 1979 when Ed retired from the military. After Elisabeth and Ed divorced, Elisabeth worked as food service director for Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village, then a few years later she became shop manager for Cross Timbers Girl Scout Council. Eventually she retired from the council in 2000. Elisabeth loved to garden, sew, knit, read and collect everything English, especially tea pots. She loved English tea and cooked many delicious English meals. She loved her animals, especially her Yorkie. Most of all she adored her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her ex-husband, Edward Gardner of Cartwright, Oklahoma, two daughters, Karen Leverton of Denton and Victoria Seward of Lewisville, a son, Andrew Gardner of Denton, two sisters, Patricia King and Jacqueline Gurney both of Oxford, England, seven grandchildren, Nikki, Jaimie, Trinity, Colin, Brooklyn, Landon, and Flynn and three great grandchildren, Alex, Gwen, and Sophia.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Stanley and Mary Long, son, Philip Gardner, sisters, Joy Raimbach, Bridgett Coote and Beryl Long and brother, James Long.

Funeral services will be held at St. David's Episcopal Church in Denton, Texas on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.
