Elnora Deguzman Sapian Sparks passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in Sanger, Texas. She was born in Singapore on October 9, 1927 to Gil and Monica Deguzman. She was a mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Elnora attended dental school in the Philippines and practiced dentistry for several years until she came to the United States in the 60's.
Elnora was widowed twice. She married Gilbert Sapian in 1954 until his death in 2000, then married Verne Sparks in 2003 until he passed away in 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sisters, and daughter, Ardis Sapian.
She was an avid reader, however, she enjoyed gardening the most. Elnora had a beautiful flower garden admired by all who visited her. She was also an accomplished pianist and a classical music enthusiast. Elnora loved her Lord, she faithfully attended church each week and served on special occasions by accompanying music groups on the piano. Elnora also loved her faithful dog, Icy, who stayed close by as she took her last breath. Most of all, she loved people and spending time with her friends. To many, she was Lala, Mommy, Tiyay (aunt), the ultimate mother and friend.
Elnora is survived by her daughter Aileen Hummel (Jim) of Fort Worth, son Edsel Sapian (Josie) of Sanger, and son Dr. Schubert Sapian (Helen) of Grand Prairie, brother Leslie deGuzman of Angwin, California, grandchildren, Dr. Benjamin Hummel, Dr. Hillary Hummel-Kerbs (Jason), Lemuel Sapian (Michekho), Rey Sapian (Memory), Cesar Sapian, Norielou Sapian, and Magnus Sapian, greatgrandchildren, Matthew Sapian, Mark Sapian, Amelia Sapian, Johann Sapian and Jazzlyn Sapian, and several nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Elnora's Life will take place on Saturday, March 20, at 4pm at the Denton First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 11010 US-377, Pilot Point, TX 76258. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Gilbert and Elnora Sapian Mansilingan (Philippines) Seventh Day Adventist Church mission project.
