Dr. Emma Lee Barthold Nance, PhD. July 16, 1912 – January 1, 2014, age 101.
Funeral Service Tuesday January 7th at 10:00 am., at DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 W. University, Denton. (940) 383-4200. Visitation Monday Jaunary 6th 5-7 pm.

Dr. Nance was Director of Nutrition and Technical Services Staff, Food and Nutrition Services, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Southwest Region. She was a veteran Civil Service employee for over 40 years and wife of Arthur Nance (deceased). During her career Dr. Nance received several awards and certificates of merit. The focus of much of her work was the School Lunch Program and "to just feed the children" nutritious wholesome food for their bodies and their minds. She retired in 1980. Dr. Nance received her Masters in 1972 and her PhD later, both from TWU in Denton, and was involved in private consulting for several years afterward.

Dr. Nance is survived by a son Daryel Nance (Houston), four grand children Monica (Toronto), Jon (and wife Jaiy), Lauren and Robyn (all of Houston), and three great grandchildren Aidan, Emory and Ethan (Houston), also nieces and nephews by marriage, and "Dr. Emma's" very close friend Linda Rodriguez (Denton).
