It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Erik Andrew Nelsen, age 49, who went to his heavenly home at MD Anderson in Houston, TX, on the evening of August 4th, 2024. He had fought a very long, hard battle with Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma for over a year.

Erik was born on August 31st, 1974 to Christopher and Susan Nelsen in Oakland, CA. He grew up in both California and Wisconsin, before leaving to attend college at Texas Tech University. He graduated with a degree in Engineering and went on to accomplish many things in his career, as well as obtaining his Professional Engineering License. He then met and fell in love with his wife, Jennifer and they were married on July, 7th, 2007. At the time of his death, Erik was working for Rodriguez Transportation Group as a Project Engineer/Squad Leader. He was an extremely hard and very dedicated worker.

Outside of work, Erik enjoyed fishing, watching racing with his Dad, and all sports, but especially watching his Texas Tech Red Raiders play football. His favorite sports teams were the Texas Tech Red Raiders, San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco 49ers. Most of all though, he enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his kids, the lights of his life.

However, Erik's main passion and what he lived for was his family. He had a fiercely protective love for family and he absolutely adored his wife and two children, and always made them feel as if they were his priority. Erik loved with a deep love that was selfless, caring and tenderhearted. He always put others first and always made sure everyone else was ok. He was the kind of man that any woman would have wanted as a partner in this life and as such an amazing daddy to their children. He will forever be deeply missed, but his legacy will definitely live on in the lives of his wife Jennifer and two children, Emily and Jake, as well as all of his family and people who loved him. He will always be with us and will never be forgotten. "It is not a goodbye, but a see you later", as he always said. We love you forever Erik and we know we will see you again...

Erik is preceded in death by his father Christopher Nelsen, father-in-law Jon Milstead and sister-in-law Emily Milstead. Erik is survived by his loving wife Jennifer Nelsen and their two adoring children, Emily and Jake Nelsen of Prosper, Texas, his mother Susan Nelsen of Neenah, Wisconsin, his sister Laura McDermott (Donald) of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, his nephew Cameron McDermott of Columbus, Wisconsin, and his niece Amelia McDermott of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Terri Steigleder of Denton, TX, his father-in-law Nick Turkoly of Denton, Texas, his brother-in-law Tillman Milstead of Denton, TX as well as his grandparents-in-law, Barbara and Charlie Chittum of Lawton, Oklahoma.

A memorial service will be held at the Denton Bible Church Chapel at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 12, 2024. A reception/visitation will be immediately held after the service in the hallway outside of the Chapel.
