Obituary

Estela Juana Loya passed away Thursday, February 4th, 2021 in Denton, Texas. Estela was born June 24, 1949 in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Cosme and Elena Reyes.  Her early years were spent playing with her siblings in the river and tending to their livestock on their ranch. Some of her fondest memories were spent on the ranch milking cows and riding horses. Estela married Armando Loya in 1972 when she was 22 years old. She knew she had met the love of her life when Armando asked her to dance. Dancing is what Estela loved doing most. Her most cherished treasures in life were her three children Araceli, Armando and Myra. She also adored her lifelong friendships that she established in El Paso and Denton, TX.

After moving to Denton in 2001 to be closer to her children, she never lost touch with those dearest to her. She enjoyed going to the beach with family, caring for her plants and flowers and cooking. Her best recipes of enchiladas and tamales will be passed down through her children and live on. The last vacation taken with her husband, children and grandchildren to Yosemite Valley California was a loving memory we will cherish forever. Estela was so happy she was able to experience the trip of a lifetime with those closest to her heart. When her children were little Armando & Estela would take a road trip to California every year.  California was her first trip and then her last before the Lord called her home.

Estela will always be remembered for her nurturing, loyal, and loving traits. Her contagious laugh and beautiful smile will remain in our hearts for eternity. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with open arms into her home. She was loved and adored by everyone around her. Estela wanted everyone to dance and celebrate her life during this time. She is preceded in death by her parents Cosme & Elena Reyes, brother Juan Reyes, sisters Isidra Vasquez and Manuela Valdiviez.

A live stream rosary will be held at 9:30 AM CST, Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at St. Mark Catholic Church with a live stream funeral mass at 10:00 AM- 11:00 CST.  Interment will be held at a later date at the DFW National Cemetery with Military Honors.
