Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Monroe Engelke, 49 of Corinth, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013. He was born on June 27, 1964 in Houston, Texas to Walter William Engelke and Elizabeth Anne Anderson Engelke. He married Janell Cook on July 22, 1989 in Houston and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1988.

(Call 1-800-Gene) Gene loved to help people and always had a project going – from re-building Mustangs, to modifying his Corvette and anything to do with technology, especially computers. He could always be counted on to eradicate the neighborhood snake population. He enjoyed helping Adam develop in all his sports activities, guiding him in Cub Scouts, and teaching him how to drive on the computer. His love of Aggie football was evident in the endless supply of Aggie shirts & caps.

Gene is survived by his wife, Janell; son, Adam Engelke; parents, Walter and Elizabeth Engelke; sisters, Anne Engelke and Susan Lewis; brother-in-laws, Keith Lewis and Ralph Cook; nieces and nephew, Hannah Lowery, Elisa Cook, and Ryan Cook.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 4-6 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. The service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
