Obituary

Faye Hackler, a beloved mother, nanny, aunt, sister and friend, went to be with Jesus on March 18, 2026, in Krum, Texas. She was born on April 9, 1941. Faye's life was a testament to love, kindness, and spirited joy, qualities that touched all who knew her.

Faye’s legacy is marked with profound love and dedication, especially evident in her deep affection for children. From raising six beloved children with her late husband, Johnny Hackler Sr., whom she married in 1959, to generously supporting others' children, Faye’s nurturing spirit was always on full display. She was a devoted coach, enthusiastically attended every school event, and was known to be present whenever her help was needed. Her playful nature often brought smiles and laughter, whether she was dancing down store aisles, wearing handcrafted costumes, or sharing a humorous story with friends and family.

Above all, Faye’s greatest delight was her grandchildren. Whether reading to them, cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, or simply playing on the floor, these moments brought immeasurable joy to her heart and were the essence of her happiness.

Faye is survived by her daughter Debra Foster and husband Tim; daughter Jayne Ashcraft; son Johnny Hackler Jr.; daughter Angela Thomas and husband Nathan; and nine treasured grandchildren: Michael Foster and wife Melissa, Crystal Ashcraft and Travis Marmon, Rachel Hackler, Corey Ashcraft and wife Sarah, Amanda Coulter and husband Cody, Johnny Hackler III, Lisa McCoy and husband Nick, Elie Thomas, and Eleanor Thomas. She also leaves behind twelve precious great-grandchildren: Tre’ Peoples, Liyah Peoples, Madi Hackler, Amauri McCoy, Finleigh Foster, Carsen Foster, Corbitt Coulter, Tripp Coulter, Whitley Coulter, Wyatt Ashcraft, Waylon Ashcraft, and Ava Jo Ashcraft.

Faye’s family is further enriched by her bonus children Brad Bohrer, Brian Jackson and wife Holly, Brenda Kelley, Robert Hackler and wife Robin, Ronnie Hackler and wife Leandra, and Randy Hackler and wife Donna. She is also survived by her sister Sandra Bohrer, sister-in-law Virginia Smith, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special namesake great-great niece, Scottlyn Faye Gammons.

She is preceded in death by her husband Johnny Hackler Sr., her parents Clyde Smith and Flossie Cain, siblings Dalton Smith and Mansell Smith, sister and brother-in-law Audie and Lloyd Hubbard, sons Baby Clyde and Darryl Hackler, daughter-in-law Marie Hackler, son-in-law Randy Ashcraft, and nephew/bonus son Harold Hackler Jr.

Faye’s kindness, humor, and unwavering commitment to those she loved leave an indelible mark on her family and the wider community. Her visitation will be held on March 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors located at 2025 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201. The funeral service will take place on March 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Denton Bible Church, 2300 E. University Dr, Denton, TX 76209. Internment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.

The family invites all who knew Faye to join in celebrating her remarkable life, remembering the joy she brought to so many. Through her enduring love and the happy memories she leaves behind, Faye will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Her family respectfully acknowledges the loving and gentle care provided by Concho Hearts Hospice during her final days, an enduring comfort to Faye and her loved ones.
