Florence Marvin Giles (Flo) passed away in Denton, Texas on Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born in New York City on February 6, 1939 to Kellogg and Hilma Marvin. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Flo earned her master's degree in education and was an elementary school teacher for 37 years. She loved teaching and dedicated much of her life to it.

Flo was also a fierce competitor and an accomplished athlete. In her school years, she played every sport she could and excelled at all of them. Her favorites were tennis and golf. She continued playing golf into her 80s. She was an avid Texas Tech and Dallas Cowboy fan, wearing her team jersey on game days and cheering her teams on while watching them on TV.  She also loved playing bridge and chess. She and Bill played everyday for many years.

Flo had a tender heart for dogs and adopted many over the years treating them as valued family members. Flo also loved fashion, which is evident from her many purses and shoes! She was very outgoing and the life of the party.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Oakmont Country Club at 1901 Oakmont Drive in Corinth, Texas. Friends and family are invited to drop by to join in remembering Flo.

Florence is survived by her husband William Giles, children Kelley Milner (O'Grady), Howard Mills (Debbie), Bill Giles (Robin), Ann Erba (Carlo), Scott Giles (Karen) and Denise Hudy and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
