Floyd Donald Barkley "Don", 77, of Corinth, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013. He was born on June 6, 1936 in Lampasas, Texas to Floyd C. Barkley and Effie Lou Kinsey Barkley. He married Dolores Herrington in New Iberia, LA on October 5, 1963. He was a graduate of Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin, was an Eagle Scout, a U.S. Army Veteran & 40 year petroleum executive. After 40 years as a resident of South Louisiana, he retired back to Texas. He was an avid golfer, hunter, & domino player. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Denton.


Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 am Thursday, June 13, 2013 with the services beginning at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Cole Chapel with Rev. Jessica Wright officiating. Burial will be on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Murphree Cemetery in Evant, Texas.

Don is survived by his wife, Dolores; daughter, Phyllis Barkley Briggs; son-in-law, Terry Briggs; son, Douglas M.H. Barkley; daughter-in-law, Meredith Zacek Barkley; grandchildren, Rachel Briggs, Stephen Briggs, Joseph Briggs, Camille Barkley, Blythe Barkley; brother, William Douglas Barkley. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Charles Edwin Barkley.
