IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Jean
Kingery
March 8, 1929 – February 7, 2018
Frances "Jean" Kingery, 88, of Denton, Texas was called home on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, and friend to many. Although the last years of her life were sometimes a struggle, she lived a vibrant, blessed life and will be missed by all who knew her.
Jean was born on March 8, 1929 in Plato, MO to Floyd and Ethel Duff. She attended public school in Plato and eventually graduated from Southwest Missouri State University. She married Burell "Dwane" Kingery on April 16, 1949 while they were both attending college.
After moving to Denton, Texas in the summer of 1956, Jean and Dwane created a loving home for their three children and became members of First Baptist Church of Denton. Jean was active in many areas of the church including WMU.
Jean served as chauffeur for various activities including Scouts, dance, band, sports, and many more. She was a tireless supporter of her children and put up with everything from rat bites to surprise dog adoptions to magic conventions. Although she could be a stern disciplinarian (preferring liquid to bar soap for the occasional mouth-washing), she usually had a suppressed chuckle at her offspring's antics.
She loved her grandchildren deeply and was adored by them in return. "Camp Grandma" was a favorite spot for all of them.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Karen Sturm; her sons, Kent Kingery and David Kingery; her grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth, B.J., Connor, Jessica, Courtney, and Hannah; her great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Colby, Tate, and Lilly; her brother, Harold Duff; and her sister, Mary Jane Turner.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Denton, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Jean's name to either the Research Center of the Alzheimer's Association or the Dwane Kingery Educational Scholarship at the University of North Texas.
